(PCM) Leighton Meester and Gillian Jacobs are two codependent best friends, one straight, one lesbian, who are learning how to navigate adult life when a man comes between them in Magnolia Pictures comedy, Life Partners.
At 29, the most long-term relationship Sasha (Leighton Meester) and Paige (Gillian Jacobs) have ever been in is with each other, using their co-dependent friendship as an excuse not to venture out into the dating world alone.
But when Paige meets nerdy Tim (Adam Brody) and starts to get serious for the first time, the nature of their friendship begins to shift. Fearing she’s being cast aside, Sasha tries to keep their relationship the same, but does growing up also mean growing apart?
Also starring in Life Partners are Beth Dover (The Ten, Leonard in Slow Motion), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious, Seven Psychopaths), Greer Grammer (MTV’s Awkward, An Evergreen Christmas), Mark Feuerstein and SNL‘s Kate McKinnon and Abby Elliott.
Written and directed by Susanna Fogel and co-writer Joni Lefkowitz, Life Partners currently has a fresh rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. Ronnie Scheib of Variety praised Life Partners, calling the film “a well-scripted, intriguingly-acted effort to mine the theme of prolonged adolescent best-buddyism through two women.”
